The Mersey is not just any river, its the beating heart of a truly special city that has been at the forefront of innovation for three centuries.

The Mersey River Festival is a celebration of our glorious waterfront in a FREE extravaganza of family fun and entertainment along our iconic river.

Taking place Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June, the 2017 festival promises to be extra special, as the festival funs alongside the national event for Armed Forces Day. Tall ships are set to sail into the city, joining several military vessels and reserch ships.

The British ThunderCat racing Tour will make a welcome return and you'll see boats battling it out on the Mersey reaching speeds of up to 65mph.

Visitors can also expect incredible jet skiing, fly boarding,canoe polo and wakeboarding displays along with some dry land exhibitions, unarmed combat and weapon displays.

The sea cadets will also be performing their field gun window ladder semaphore and club swinging activities, whilst the Northern Boat Show will return for a third consecutive year, running from
