Richmond Columbian Properties, William G. Scott House is hosting its sixth Quality of Place Conference Friday September 15th. This year’s theme is sustainable Communities; Our Global Future. The conference has been very successful in the past and we are expecting this year to be even better.

Registration will start at 8:00 A.M., with the first session beginning at 9:00 A.M.

Session Schedule:
9:00 A.M.: What is Sustainability and how it works in the local community; Ronald D. Stegall (International Community Development), Christian Vassie (local leader in sustainable development working in England and the European Union, and an artist), Robert Koester (Director of the CERES Program at Ball State University).

10:00 A.M.: Featured Speaker The success or failure of communities, making the choice; Ed McMahon (Senior Fellow with the Urban Land Institute).

11:00 A.M.: Engaging the community through the investment in culture; Big Car, Indianapolis Jim Walker (CEO, Co-Founder, Lead Artist) Shauta Marsh (Chief Curator, Co-Founder)

12:00 P.M.: Welcome and presentation of Preservation Hero Award; Introduction of Keynote Speaker, Children and the Arts Caroline Klemperer Green, (Chanticleer String Quartet), Testament for the Arts Guy Victor Bordo (Conductor/ Musical Director Richmond Symphony Orchestra.

The conference is offering scholarships to planning, architectural and public service students. Following the formal conference a speaker’s round table will be held to allow students and anyone else to interact with the speakers.
