Sydney’s Royal Headache burst into view back in 2011 upon the release of their self-titled album, an adrenaline shot of melodic energy and heart-on-sleeve romanticism that immediately lit up listeners home and away. Shogun’s voice and lyrics aren’t so much a secret weapon in Royal Headache’s arsenal as they are the front line, happiness and hurt soaring above the songs, driving home all the feelings within.

Released in August 2015 their sophomore album, High injects even more soul and passion into the breakneck formula that became synonymous with Royal Headache. If their first album was akin to a courtship, think of High as the romance. Picked by Steve Lamacq of BBC Radio 6 Music as his album of the year, High has met the praise of music critics worldwide.

After their controversial sold out performance at Sydney’s Opera House in 2015 the band went on to successfully tour the USA and Europe with appearances at Pitchfork Music Festival, Primavera Sound Festival, and their first live television performance on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Back with a renewed lineup for their first local headline show, Royal Headache will be playing tunes from their back catalogue as well as fresh new material.
