Long Beach's premier free summer concert is back!

The Uptown Jazz Festival is back and bigger than ever on Saturday, June 24th, at Houghton Park, and I am proud to partner with Councilmember Roberto Uranga this year to bring the community an incredible line-up!

• Ozomatli - Hailing from Los Angeles, Ozomatli has found a way to represent the city and region’s eclectic culture through music that appeals to the local community and the world beyond. Their success is exemplified in an impressive variety of genres, from classic to modern Latino, urban, hip-hop and other world styles.

• DW3 - DW3 is Southern California’s premiere R&B;, funk, and contemporary urban jazz powerhouse. This will be the sixth year that the versatile ensemble has performed at the Uptown Jazz Festival.

• Elaine Gibbs & Nu Soul - Elaine Gibbs was a finalist on Season 1 of the X Factor, and has been a singer since the age of 13. She is a writer, producer and performer who is known for her emotional and wide-ranging R&B; voice.

• Susie Hansen Latin Band - Susie and her band play familiar and traditional salsa in Spanish, many original salsa and Latin Jazz compositions, Latin-style interpretations of American jazz standards, Cuban Charanga music, and great salsa and cha cha in English.

• The Alvin Hayes, Jr. and Friends - Alvin Hayes, Jr. is a Long Beach native and accomplished jazz artist who plays all saxophones, flutes, clarinets and other members of the Woodwind family. His albums have been listed on the Billboard Magazine Jazz charts.

• Shy but flyy and the All Starz - Shy But Flyy has been making her mark on the scene as a singer for a while. Over the years, her style progressed from mainly hip hop and R&B; into neo-soul/spoken word/and blues. Shy is accompanied by her band “Shy but Flyy and The All Starz” blending the art of poetry and song.

The Long Beach community and friends are invited to come and enjoy music, food trucks, vendor booths, a Kids' Zone, and more. This is a free community concert, but there are a few rules to follow:

- Feel free to bring your own low back lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets.
- No canopies or tents allowed.
- Do not bring alcohol. There is a beer and wine garden available for consumption within the boundaries.
- No smoking allowed.

Public transit or ride sharing is encouraged as parking is offsite and limited.
