ABOUT THE FILM
In this moving biopic, Lou Diamond Phillips plays rock & roll legend Ritchie Valens. Born to a family of migrant workers, Valens grew up to become the forefather of the Chicano rock movement, topping the charts in the ’50s—most notably with “La Bamba” and “Donna”—before dying in a tragic plane crash. Directed by Luis Valdez. (1987, 108 min. Rated PG-13.)
